Airparks are becoming increasingly popular across Australia, suiting those who want a quiet, safe and secure rural lifestyle, along with an airstrip outside their front door and a hangar beside the house. One of the upsides of living closer to your aircraft is to simply expand the enjoyment or utility of your aeronautical investment, whether you fly it for leisure, business, or both.
The ‘Airpark’ residential living concept is catching on in Australia, as it has already done elsewhere over the years, and particularly in the USA where it is estimated there are at least 426 residential airparks. Two excellent cases in point in Australia are the ‘airparks’ at the Temora and Narromine airports, where purchasing a residential allotment in a regional airport has caught on in a big way. There are also airparks in regional Queensland and Western Australia.
Airpark Goolwa is established in the very picturesque Goolwa Airport, which is surrounded by rolling countryside and stunningly beautiful coastal outlooks that enhance the relaxing environment that the ‘airpark’ presents.
Goolwa Airport is located 4km north of the Goolwa township and 78 km south of Adelaide, (34 nautical miles by air). It was established in 1975 on 73.6 hectares (182 acres) of freehold land, and it is now a respected destination and refuelling stop for general aviation pilots. The airport boasts a 24 hour, all bitumen runway that is suitable for light and medium size piston or jet aircraft. The runway and taxi lights are pilot activated. In all, Goolwa Airport has a total of three main runways, 01/19 – sealed for 1350m, 90m wide with PAL system. 16/34 is a 1000m grass runway, 90m wide. 09/27 is a 650m grass runway at 90m wide. There is a large paved apron area in front of the Office/Terminal, and the refuelling facility has AVGAS, Jet A1 and 98 octane MOGAS on bowsers. The modern brick terminal facility has a reception area with lounge, briefing rooms, several offices, toilets and kitchen. Other facilities include 50 hangars with a total capacity for over 100 aircraft.
The development of Airpark Goolwa is for a total of 58 residential allotments (Community Title) ranging from approximately 2,000m2 to 3,400m2, and all safely positioned around the airport precinct.
A perimeter road services the blocks with areas of park land and native vegetation dispersed around the edges.
The airport is particularly quiet and the residential living sites will appeal to anyone looking for a quiet and peaceful rural lifestyle allotment with 3 phase power available for connection, whether having an aircraft or not!
On offer here is Stage One residential housing development that consists of 10 residential allotments of a large 3,400m2 each. (Lots 17-26).
PLEASE NOTE: Lot 19 is destined to be offered as a house & land package, with the vendor currently developing the allotment with a new 4 bedroom 2 bathroom house, plus a detached hanger. The intention is the demonstrate the excellent lifestyle offered by these large secure allotments within the ‘Airpark’.
There are a number of quality building companies in the area, and collectively they present a wide range of house design options that will surely suit the wonderful Airpark Goolwa address.
Whilst this residential ‘estate’ will be of immediate appeal to people with aeronautical pursuits, this new address will also appeal to anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing rural environment along with the excellent security that the estate offers. (e.g. secured behind electric gates accessed by unique resident-only electronic code). Also, there is a known shortage of quality hanger space, and this offers potential for an investment with sound rental/lease returns.
Historic Goolwa is a perfect place to live, with its shopping, services, beaches and attractions only a short drive away, and the major town centre of Victor Harbor is less than 30 minutes away by car along the beautiful south coast road. The Adelaide CBD is only around 60 minutes away by car.
This is a first for South Australia, and is therefore a ground floor opportunity to live in an airpark.
